European Commission Ordered Recall of Children's Smartwatch

The European Commission ordered a recall of a children's smartwatch because it leaves them open to being contacted and located by attackers. Data sent to and from the watch was unencrypted allowing data to be easily taken and changed.

This is another one in the list of poor cybersecurity implementations especially in smart gadgets that are meant for children. One might recollect the huge data breach at toymaker VTech not so long ago. Clearly, Internet of Things (IoT) devices need a sea change in manufacturer attitudes toward cybersecurity.
