ERMProtect Co-Hosts #BreachesHappen Cybersecurity Event
Enterprise Risk Management, Inc. ("ERMProtect") was recently featured on Telemundo. ERMProtect co-hosted #BreachesHappen event with the mission of educating participants on best practices that should be implemented.
The key note speaker, Michael Stawasz (Deputy Chief for Computer Crime & Head of Cybersecurity Unit, U.S. Department of Justice) discussed the importance of having a thorough, up-to-date cybersecurity plan. Cyber-attacks are happening more often than ever and an often-overlooked threat in cybersecurity plans are employees. Stawasz stressed the importance of knowing what accesses are provided to employees.
Silka Gonzalez, ERMProtect President and panelist for the event, was interviewed regarding how cyber criminals are taking advantage of unsuspecting employees using a popular social engineering technique – phishing emails.
According to a recent Verizon report, 30 percent of phishing messages get opened by targeted users and 12 percent of those users click on the malicious attachment or link. As targeted phishing attempts continue to increase employers must take a proactive approach and increase cybersecurity awareness in their organization.
